Conditions of Perpendicular and Parallel Vectors

Conditions of Perpendicular and Parallel Vectors are as follows:

  • Nonzero vectors A and B are perpendicular if A · B = 0 or Ax Bx +Ay By+Az Bz = 0
  • Nonzero vectors A and B are parallel if A×B = 0.
  • For any two parallel vectors A and B, if we have A = qB, then
    – if q > 0 then two parallel vectors A and B have the same direction.
    – if q < 0 then two parallel vectors A and B are in the opposite direction.

Conditions of Perpendicular and Parallel Vectors are listed above. These conditions and equations help to check if 2 vectors are parallel or perpendicular to each other.
