Mechanical Energy Calculator

Last updated on November 2nd, 2023 at 09:42 am

Here, on this page, you can use a web-based Mechanical Energy Calculator.
It separately calculates total Potential energy and total Kinetic energy. Then adds them and shows total Mechanical energy.

Mechanical Energy Calculator

How to use the calculator?

Enter 3 input values, Mass (in kg), Velocity (in m/s), and height (in m). If the object is static, then put the velocity value as 0. If the object is a t ground level (or zero height level) then enter the value of height as 0.

All 3 inputs are to be provided to get the results. The Calculate button needs to be pressed to do the calculation. The Reset button resets the entire calculator.

This mechanical energy calculator separately calculates total Potential energy and total Kinetic energy. Then it adds them and shows total Mechanical energy.

Formulas used

Total Potential energy = mgh = mass x g x height.
Here, g= acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s^2
Total Kinetic energy = (1/2)mv2 = (1/2) x mass x velocity2
Total Mechanical energy = Total Potential Energy + Total Kinetic Energy
