Types of convex lens class 10

A lens that is thick at the center and thin at the edges is called a convex lens. The most common form of a convex lens has both surfaces bulging out in the middle. Three types of convex lenses are listed and then shown in the figure below.

The three types of convex lenses are Double convex, Plano-convex, and Concavo-convex.

Double Convex Lens – When both the surfaces of a convex lens are convex (bulging out) then the lens is called a Double Convex lens.

Plano Convex Lens – When one surface of a convex lens is plane and the other surface is convex then the lens is called a Plano-convex lens.

Concavo Convex Lens – When one surface of a convex lens is concave and the other surface is convex then the lens is called a Concavo-convex lens.
