Problem Statement

A bike accelerates uniformly from rest to a speed of 10 m/s over a distance of 30 m. Determine the acceleration of the bike.

Solution

U = 0

V = 10 m/s

S= 30 m

V² = U²  + 2 a S
As U = 0, the equation becomes: V² = 2 a S
Which gives acceleration
= a = V² / 2 S = 10²/(2.30) = 1.67 m/s²
