Problem Statement

Upton Chuck is riding the Giant Drop at Great America. If Upton free falls for 2.60 seconds, what will be his final velocity and how far will he fall?

Solution

Final velocity V = U + gt

Here U = 0, 

so V = gt = 10 . 2.6 m/s = 26 m/s

The height travelled = H = Ut + ½ g t²

As U =0, we get H = ½ g t²
= ½ . 10 . 2.6² = 33.8 m
