## Problem Statement

**A bullet leaves a rifle with a muzzle velocity
of 600 m/s. While accelerating through the barrel of the rifle, the bullet
moves a distance of 0.8 m. Determine the acceleration of the bullet (assume a
uniform acceleration).**

## Solution

** Initial velocity of the bullet U=0****Final velocity of the bullet = muzzle velocity = V=600 m/s****Distance travelled to acquire the muzzle velocity =S=0.8 m**

To find out the acceleration, we will use the equation **V ^{2} = U^{2} + 2 a S**

As U = 0, the equation becomes: V

As U = 0, the equation becomes: V

^{2}= 2 a S

Which gives acceleration

Which gives acceleration

**a = V**

^{2}/ (2 S) = 600^{2}/ (2 x 0.8) = 225000 m/s^{2}
